We’re LIVE from the NEW Gran Destino Tower at Disney World’s Coronado Springs Resort!
Hola from Walt Disney World’s Coronado Springs Resort, where we’re going INSIDE the brand new Gran Destino Tower!
We’re here for a media event today and tomorrow, and we can’t wait to share our FIRST LOOK at this new location! Come with us!
Coronado Springs Resort is a moderate resort, which, in Disney speak, means medium-priced (not “deluxe,” and not “value”). Until now, the hotel has been a sprawling, sleepy resort, with clusters of buildings representing three types of housing found in the Southwest and Mexico — casitas (city-dwelling), cabanas (beach dwelling), and ranchos (desert dwelling).
The new Gran Destino Tower adds a cosmopolitan feel to the resort, with a brand new 545-room tower offering a mix of 495 rooms and 50 suites — plus a rooftop table service restaurant (Toledo — Tapas, Steak, & Seafood), a rooftop lounge (Dahlia Lounge), and a lobby bar that pulls double duty depending on the hour (Barcelona Lounge)!
We’ll be touring the Tower, exploring the rooms, and tasting our way through all the restaurants! So keep checking back as we add to this LIVE report as the day progresses into the night!
FIRST LOOK at Gran Destino Tower, Rooms, and Suites!
Rooms at Gran Destino feel a lot more like deluxe resort rooms than like moderate resort rooms. They’re decked out with two queen beds, laminate flooring, and plenty of room.
The rooms remind me of the old Swan and Dolphin Resort hotel rooms, with the long console desk at the front of the room instead of a bureau. These rooms are definitely set up to be functional for conference guests.
The bathroom area feels very much like that of Disney’s Contemporary Resort (double sinks, separate water closet, sliding barn door enclosing the whole bathroom area, etc)
We’ll have a full review of the rooms for you in a separate post, so stay tuned!
FIRST LOOK at Barcelona Lounge!
Enjoy a taste of Barcelona Lounge in the lobby of Gran Destino Tower! This espresso bar-by-day, gin tonic bar-by-night has is the place to go for all-day refreshment.
We’ll have a full review of Barcelona Lounge in a separate post! Stay tuned!
FIRST LOOK at Dahlia Lounge!
Coming soon! Located on the rooftop of Gran Destino, Dahlia Lounge promises a one-of-a-kind surrealist vibe with a full bar, a selection of Spanish wines, and tasty tapas! Stay tuned for our first look and full review!
FIRST LOOK and Full Review at Toledo — Tapas, Steak, & Seafood!
Coming soon! We’ll bring you inside Toledo — Tapas, Steak, & Seafood for a tour of the space and a small taste of the Spanish-inspired menu. We’ll have a first look review tonight (via the media event), and a full review when the restaurant fully opens to the public tomorrow (which we’ll pay for ourselves — see our disclosure info below for details).
Stick with us over on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook as well for updates and fun stories throughout the day!
