Take Advantage Of These WEIRD Reasons To Plan A Last-Minute Disney Trip This Summer!

Thinking you need a little getaway to your happy place — the place that relaxes you, refreshes you, and makes you feel like, well, you? But you’re smart enough to know that Walt Disney World vacations take MONTHS to plan and that summer is a big no-no if you want to actually have a good time there?

Think it’s going to be too crowded this summer? You might be surprised…

Well…maybe not THIS summer. Hear us out! Whether you’ve always been frightened by the summer projected crowd calendars or have never booked a Disney trip without at least 6 months of preparation, it’s time to put all your preconceived notions aside. THIS Summer is super weird…and you may actually want to head to the World for a quick getaway, believe it or not! Here’s why:

Crowds May Be Lighter Than You Think

Typically Walt Disney World crowds reach a fever pitch during the summer culminating in brutally long wait times for attractions and clogged thoroughfares. Summer 2019, however, may be a much different story. You see, a lot of folks have been delaying their summer Disney trips until after August 29th, when Star Wars:Galaxy’s Edge debuts at Hollywood Studios.

This means the parks may be more manageably busy than compared to summers past. Once Star Wars opens in Walt Disney World, however, the resort in its entirety is expected to be busier than it has been in years…and for years to come. And then we’ve got the 50th Anniversary in 2021 — which means tons of new rides, new attractions, and HOARDS OF HUMANS.

So, yeah, Disney World’s NOT going to be EMPTY this summer. That’s just crazy. BUT, this might be your last chance to experience not just Hollywood Studios, but the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Epcot before the real frenzy begins over the next two years.

Disney’s Doing Serious Discounts

Disney’s running tons of discounts right now — room discounts, ticket discounts, package discounts — to bring people into the parks this summer. It’s kind of unprecedented…and you should totally benefit from this, my friends!

Magic Kingdom, Here We Come!

Currently, Walt Disney World is offering 25% off rooms at select Disney resorts if you book before August 28th. Disney is also featuring a special promotion right now called the Summer One World ticket. It enables guests one visit to all four Disney theme parks along with both waterparks and is available for purchase until August 23rd.

The tickets are good until August 28th and the cost is $74 plus tax per park ($444 plus tax in total) for adults and $69 plus tax per park ($414 plus tax in total) for children. This is a huge savings over the standard park ticket price which varies between $109 to $129 plus tax per park per visit.

See Them Before They’re Gone

What will you be doing on your impromptu Disney vacation? Aside from devouring the usual Dole Whips and Mickey-shaped treats, you’ll be just in time to experience several limited summertime offerings and events!

You can see IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth one last time before its final performance on September 30th.

Or maybe seeing Toy Story 4 has you wanting to dance the night away with Partysaurus Rex at Typhoon Lagoon’s H20 Glow Nights, a special nighttime event on select evenings which features special pool party music, lights, food, and beverages. Tickets are $59 plus tax when purchased in advance and the event runs until August 24th.

Now, if you want to blast out of this world to a seriously AWESOME Mix-Tape, Star-Lord and Gamora have been spotted over at the American Adventure Pavilion in Epcot’s World Showcase performing Guardians of the Galaxy – Awesome Mix Live! daily. This show is actually super fun — especially if you’re partial to 70s and 80s tunes (which you should be).

Finally, have you wished Mickey Mouse a “Happy 90th Birthday”? There’s still time, but you’ll have to hurry to meet Mickey and Minnie dressed in their special celebration attire at Town Square Theatre before it’s too late! This celebration — along with the eats that go along with it — may end on September 30th, so this summer is your last chance!

Everyone’s favorite couple: Mickey and Minnie!

Now if this summer isn’t your jam, we get it. You want to wait for Galaxy’s Edge, or you just prefer visiting when it’s cooler. But if you were wondering if a last-minute long weekend would be worth it in the next month or so…it just might be!
