What’s NEXT For Disney’s Hollywood Studios??

Disney’s Hollywood Studios just celebrated its 30th anniversary; and while this beloved park has gone through a lot of change in the past few decades, we think it’s about to come into its own! From a brand new logo — see it here — to new rides, new attractions, and whole new LANDS, there’s a lot in the near future for this little theme park that could.

Hollywood Studios 30th Anniversary

Guys, it’s gonna be AWESOME.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Of course, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is next up on the list for new and exciting Hollywood Studios opportunities. The land will be opening in two phases: the first on August 29th, 2019. This first phase will include everything except for it’s headliner attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, which will open during phase two. More details on when the second phase will occur have not been released yet.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in Galaxy’s Edge

Now, those visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland currently need a reservation to enter until June 23rd. But Disney World has not announced any reservation requirements for their opening season at press time, so we’re not sure how Disney World will stem the epic crowds who will want to get into the land.

But we DO know that it will be amazing. Our time on Batuu in Disneyland was incredible — you can see all of our Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge reviews here— and we can’t wait to experience it again in Orlando.

Keep up with Galaxy’s Edge here!

New Toy Story Land Restaurant

All-new Roundup Rodeo BBQ restaurant is making its way to Toy Story Land! Toy Story Land doesn’t currently have a table-service location — and it can REALLY use one. And in addition to the extra food options, we know Disney guests will definitely appreciate the A/C and shade this spot will offer. There is not a release date for this new restaurant yet, but check out the latest details here!

If you’re visiting Toy Story Land soon and are wondering where to eat, make sure you check out Woody’s Lunchbox!

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is opening in the spring of 2020. During Hollywood Studios’ 30th Birthday celebrations a few new bits of information about the attraction were released. Guests will become a part of a Mickey cartoon as they experience a ride inspired by the “cadence and comedy” of the new Mickey and Minnie cartoon shorts. Imagineers also shared that this will be our adventure, but we’ll be “fish out of water” in Mickey’s world! This attraction will lead us into a zany, theatrical world of cartoon logistics and physics!

The attraction will also feature its own original song created by Chris Willis. The entire attraction’s soundtrack has been scored like a film. And live sounds from one of the original three whistles used in Steamboat Willie will be used in the attraction. It will provide sound in Goofy’s part of the story!

It was also recently announced that this ride will be making its way to Disneyland as well. It is set to open in 2022. Read more about the upcoming attraction here!

Star Wars Resort Hotel

And of course, we had to mention the all-new resort coming to Hollywood Studios. The Star Wars hotel will allow guests to walk straight into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and is noted as a very immersive experience.

Here, you will “board a starship alive with characters and stories that unfold all around.” You will become part of the Star Wars story as a citizen of the galaxy as you enter the hotel. This will be a multi-day experience (potentially all-inclusive, like a cruise ship), and you will be invited to dress the part. This will be like nothing you’ve ever experienced, down to your hotel room looking out into space instead of into a sunny Orlando day. You are truly going to feel as though you have traveled to a galaxy far far away when staying here.

Sadly, not much information on an opening time frame has been released yet, but be on the lookout for updates as we suspect they will be coming soon.
