What’s New in Epcot: Construction Updates, Eats, and the CUTEST Shortbread Tin!
Our last visit to Epcot included some fun new updates! We caught up on the many construction updates throughout the park, sampled yummy treats (YAY for Frosé!), and discovered some new merchandise offerings!
What’s New in Epcot’s Future World:
Construction for the Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster continues to progress in Epcot’s Future World. The new coaster is set to open in 2021 as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations for Walt Disney World.
The new ride’s queue will be located in the former Universe of Energy building while the coaster itself will be housed in a new building.
Between Mission: Space and Test Track, construction for the new space-themed restaurant is underway. The restaurant is slated to open later this year and will offer an immersive atmosphere for restaurant guests.
Learn more about the new space-themed restaurant coming to Epcot here.
Currently, Electric Umbrella is not offering the BB-8 Steins. The BB-8 Steins have not shown up in Hollywood Studios either since they began disappearing a couple of weeks ago. Stay tuned for more updates on the status of this popular sipper!
What’s New in Epcot’s World Showcase
The International Gateway security check is in an updated location and is now closer to the boat launch. Entrance scanners remain in the same place for the time being.
The construction within the France Pavilion continues to move forward.
The France Pavilion is undergoing quite a bit of change as it prepares for the opening of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in addition to a new full-service crêperie.
Also in the France Pavilion, Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie recently welcomed a new Frosé slush to its beverage menu.
The delicious concoction is made with Frozen Côtes de Provence rosé, vodka, and peach.
You can read our full review of the beverage here!
The Japan Pavilion is also undergoing renovations as it prepares to open a new signature restaurant, Takumi-Tei.
Takumi-Tei is scheduled to open this summer and will celebrate and highlight Japan’s natural beauty.
Advanced Dining Reservations are not yet available, but we will be on the lookout for updates and will keep you posted!
While we were there, the Mexico Pavilion was offering chocolate samples to guests.
The Cast Member we spoke to didn’t know how long they’d be doing this, but noted that they offer samples every now and then, so keep your eyes peeled! We’ll be doing the same…
What’s New in Epcot’s Shops and Stores — New Merchandise!
A tasty and adorable souvenir recently made its debut in Epcot! You can now grab a Double Decker Disney Parks Transport tin bus, packed full of delicious Disney Parks Mickey Shortbread by Walkers of Scotland!
Head over to Mouse Gear in Future World or The Tea Caddy in the United Kingdom Pavilion to get this new item.
Learn more about the shortbread tin here.
To commemorate the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup, the France and Italy Pavilions have debuted new shirts.
You can pick up a shirt for $24.99 in the France and Italy merchandise locations. The World Cup does end on June 7th, so these will most likely be available for only a limited time.
Class of 2019 Graduation Glow Lanyards are now available to celebrate this year’s graduates.
We found these at an outdoor merchandise cart in Future World.
And that’s it for our Epcot travels this week! We’ll be back in the park soon for more updates.
