Disney has clarified the Disneyland park costume policy specifically in regards to Galaxy’s Edge. The information is complete with pictures which Disney has provided to give better ideas of what is — and is not — permitted in regards to attire in Black Spire Outpost.

Disney states that: “While costumes may not be worn by guests 14 years of age or older, appropriate bounding—dressing in outfits inspired by Star Wars—is permitted. The following guidelines will help you arrive to Batuu in style. Proper footwear must be worn.”

“Bounding” refers to combining regular clothing items in such a way that, when worn together, are recognizable as a tribute to a character.

“Batuuan attire” refers to “wearing outfits inspired by the villagers of Batuu—muted tones, vests, layers, etc.”

Items that are NOT permitted include, per Disney, the following:

  • All robes or military-style attire
  • Masks, face paint, elaborate headwear, blasters or holsters (lightsabers are allowed) or hard items such as body armor, helmets or kneepads
  • Full character suits

It is further clarified that this means that some of the items sold in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge — such as the Jedi robes you’ll find at Black Spire Outfitters — cannot be worn in the land.
