Review: NEW Breakfast Bites at Disneyland’s Red Rose Taverne
Red Rose Taverne in Disneyland’s Fantasyland is the little overlay that could. Back in 2017, Disneyland Park reimagined its historic Village Haus as part of the company’s celebration of the release of the live-action Beauty and the Beast. But the last petal still hasn’t fallen, and Red Rose Taverne appears to be a sticking around indefinitely.
So when we’re in Disneyland, we always pop by to see what’s cookin’ in this poor, provincial town, and recently we discovered a couple new breakfast dishes we had to try. Both have the opportunity to enchant the diner — but will they be… wait for it… delicious?
The Beast’s Breakfast Burger and the Stuffed French Toast are essentially polar opposites — fitting, of course, for the story of Belle and the Beast.
The Beast’s Breakfast Burger is a hearty, 1/3 Angus patty topped with rosemary-maple cream cheese, bacon, and scrambled eggs. That’s three types of protein in one bite — ideal for a carnivorous Beast.
This is a substantial burger and more than enough food for one (unless that one happens to be, you know, the Beast himself), and it was a decent (though unfortunately dry) quick service burger. The rosemary-maple cream cheese is the surprise element in this and adds a hint of sweetness and freshness.
If you prefer to start your day with a hit of sugar and a slab of carbs, the Stuffed French Toast will be more your speed. This breakfast is sweet on top of sweet — with a side of bacon.
The filling between two pieces of French toast is sweetened cream cheese, and combined with the berry compote on top, there’s more than enough sugar to get you fired up for your first ride of the day. Let’s just say: it comes with a side of maple syrup, but you don’t need it.
Look, Red Rose Taverne doesn’t appear to be going anywhere, but we’re still kids at heart who can sing “Be Our Guest” at any moment, so we are here for the overlay, as long as it stays. And the breakfast here (which was hit-or-miss on our first visit back in the day) is okay! You’re not expecting French perfection from a quick service spot, but you’ll be full, some of the flavors are interesting, and you’re smack dab in the heart of Fantasyland so you can dance your way to your next attraction easily. We say: every day like the one before isn’t so bad at Red Rose Taverne.
