It’s a WICKED Time at Disney VILLAINS After Hours in Magic Kingdom

Disney Villains are taking over Magic Kingdom for Disney Villains After Hours!

Disney Villains After Hours

Disney After Hours events are extra-ticket events which offer guests the chance to enjoy the parks – along with included snacks and more — after closing hours at three Disney World Parks: Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Limited guest capacity for these events offer guests the chance to enjoy popular park attractions with little-to-no wait.

Disney Villains After Hours

But Magic Kingdom After Hours have been treated to a villainous makeover this summer. Because on select nights starting TONIGHT through August 8th, the Magic Kingdom presents Disney Villains After Hours!

Disney Villains After Hours

The After Hours event is wickedly enhanced with extra special entertainment, event-exclusive treats and merchandise, villains-inspired additions to a few classic attractions, and more!

And we were at Magic Kingdom to experience the first night of this new event. Want to see how the Villains cast their spells?

Villains Unite the Night

Guests can check out the all-new Villains Unite the Night show at the Cinderella Castle stage!

Hades, with Meg at his side, sits on his dark throne “awaiting the alignment of five planets, following a prophecy that states when the five come together he will be able to rule the universe.”

Villains Unite the Night

As happens often with Disney Villains, things don’t exactly go according to plan when a few other Villians interrupt the party. Dr. Facilier, The Queen, Jafar, and Maleficent have also heard the prophecy and they, too, believe they should rule.

Villains Unite the Night

And how will they argue their cases?

Villains Unite the Night

By showing their powers with “spine-tingling displays of skill!”

Villains Unite the Night

Be sure to check your Event Guide for times to see this new show! (On our visit, the show was performed at 11:00 PM, 12:00 AM, and 1:00 AM, and the show was longer than 20 minutes.)

Maleficent the Dragon

Maleficent the Dragon draws the attention of every guest in the Magic Kingdom during the daytime parade, Festival of Fantasy. But at Villains After Hours…

Maleficent at Night!

… guests can see Maleficent in all of her fire-breathing majesty by night for the first time!

Check your Event Guide for Maleficent’s route and appearance times (10:40 PM and 11:45 PM for our visit, plus a “final farewell” from Maleficent at 1:20 AM).

More additions to the dastardly scene include a DJ spinning tunes at the castle stage turning the Central Plaza into a “killer club scene.”

Villains After Hours Treats

Before we dig into tonight’s treats, we want to remind you that all Disney After Hours events — no matter the park — include complimentary ice cream novelties, popcorn, and select bottled beverages in the cost of admission.

Complimentary Treats

Complimentary MICKEY ICE CREAM BARS!

But for Villains After Hours, event-exclusive themed treats are available throughout the park for extra purchase.

Main Street, U.S.A. Treats

Casey’s Corner is serving De Vil’s Treat!

de Vil’s Treat

It’s a classic brownie topped with oodles of black and white icing reminiscent of Cruella’s signature hair. “To see her is to take a sudden chill!”

de Vil’s Treat

And Main Street Bakery is once again serving the jumbo Not-So-Poison Apple Cupcake, which made its delicious debut at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

Liberty Square Treats

“He’ll flip your top if it’ll fit…” It’s the Headless Horseman Browkie, and you’ll find it at the Liberty Square Popcorn Cart!

Is it a cookie? Is it a brownie? It’s BOTH! And it’s topped with a Headless Horseman white chocolate piece.

Headless Horseman Browkie

THIS is the best treat we ate. It’s a nice and gooey brownie combined with a soft chocolate chip cookie.

Headless Horseman Browkie

It’s really rich and big, so it’s certainly shareable… but that wouldn’t be honoring your inner Villain now, would it?

Pick up your Headless Horseman Straw Clip here, too!

Sleepy Hollow is serving Dr. Facilier’s Tarot Card Tart and A Drink from the Other Side.

Sleepy Hollow Treats

Dr. Facilier’s Tarot Card Tart is a chocolate tart filled with dark chocolate ganache and topped with peanut butter mousse and a white chocolate tarot card.

Dr. Facilier’s Tarot Card Tart

It’s that deliciously famous, sweet, and creamy peanut butter mousse that makes this treat memorable!

A Drink from the Other Side is a non-alcoholic Hurricane-style drink inspired by the signature New Orleans beverage.

A Drink from the Other Side

It’s reminiscent of POG Juice (passion fruit, orange, and guava), but with the addition of grenadine.

Tomorrowland Treats

Cool Ship’s tally is two treacherous treats!

This is where you’ll encounter the bubbling brew of Yzma’s Llama Potion, which is Strawberry Fanta served in a dry-ice infused cup.

Yzma’s Llama Potion

It’s suuuuper sweet, but it’s fun!

Evil Emperor Zurg’s Noodles is a chilled noodle salad with snap peas, red onion, and red peppers finished with a sesame soy sauce.

Evil Emperor Zurg’s Noodles

Now, we were warned that this dish was spicy, but we didn’t find it so. Maaaybe it had just the tiniest kick. But overall, it’s still tasty — heavy on the garlic, with more than a hint of the sesame. The pickled slaw lends it acidity, but it’s a pretty good option overall.

Fantasyland Treats

The Dragon’s Breath Float is fired up at Storybook Treats. It’s lemon soft-serve, cherry syrup, and sprite topped with dragon’s eyes (green cherries).

Storybook Treat items

The cherry syrup is uber sweet, so make sure you get a good bite of the lemon soft-serve to balance it out! The green cherries are… not the best thing we’ve ever eaten 😉 .

Dragon’s Breath Float

This float is really fun, though, and fans of lemon Dole Whip may enjoy this wicked twist.

The Maleficent Cone also makes her triumphant return here!

Maleficent Waffle Cone

It’s lime Dole Whip topped with chocolate horns and purple sprinkles served in a black waffle cone.

Adventureland Treats

Head to Tortuga Tavern for the Hades Temptation Mocktail!

Hades Temptation Mocktail

This non-alcoholic purple “Cosmo” is made with lemonade and pear syrup, and topped with a gummy worm. This frozen sip is really enjoyable. Not too sweet, and very refreshing!

Tortuga Tavern Menu items

This is also where you can order up Hades Nachos.

Hades Nachos

These black bean nacho chips with “fiery” buffalo chicken and nacho cheese are also making their return from the 2018 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

Villains After Hours Attractions

Disney After Hours events are known for low wait times at popular attractions throughout the park due to low capacity for these events. While more than 20 attractions throughout Magic Kingdom are open for guests to enjoy, two offer special enhancements for Villains After Hours.

Villains Appearances

It’s good to know in advance that this After Hours event does NOT include character meet and greets with Disney Villains. You’ll see them in the Villains Unite the Night stage show.

And if you purchase PhotoPass pictures you will see Villains show up in certain Magic Shots. (We did noticed the lines were quite long for the Magic Shots.)

But, make no mistake. The Villains make their presence known…

After Hours Final Thoughts

We have attended After Hours events at each park where they are offered (Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios). The low-capacity for these extra-ticket events really does lend a memorable feel to the evening, along with the opportunity to experience so much of what the park has to offer thanks to lower crowd levels. We have enjoyed every one we’ve attended and find that they do tend to deliver. However, because of the price point it’s best to consider all aspects of the event in regards to your specific group, which we discuss in full in our DFB YouTube Video.

Regarding the Villains After Hours specifically, the overlay for the evening does add an extra element of fun, especially for Villains fans. We do think it would be a great addition to add some meet and greet opportunities with Disney Villains as part of the goings on, increasing the value of the event by offering the chance to meet a few rarely seen characters.

But overall, After Hours events in general, while a splurge, are certainly memorable events from what we’ve experienced. After all, when’s the last time you saw Main Street, U.S.A…
