Disney Launches Official Partnership with Lyft and Announces Minnie Van App Enhancements

It has been announced that Lyft is now the official rideshare of Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. The partnership begins today, June 18th!

For Disneyland, this news comes in anticipation of the heavy crowds expected when the reservation-only period at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge comes to an end after its last day on June 23rd.

Additionally, The Orange County Register shares that while taxis and other ride-share operators will still be able to pick up and drop off guests at Harbor Boulevard, they will not be able to use the areas designated for Lyft.

“O.C. locals and tourists can say goodbye to the days of parking ‘far, far away’ to visit Disneyland and the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge,” Lyft said in a statement.

Disneyland’s current parking lots and structures are a half mile or further from the Disneyland entrance, and parking rates increased by 25 percent in January. This certainly makes utilizing a ride-share service attractive to some guests.

Disney has been working with Lyft since 2017 when the company began providing the Minnie Van service at Walt Disney World. The service has transported one million guests around Disney World property. And Disney also revealed that “Lyft and Disney will be enhancing the app experience at the Walt Disney World Resort. The update will make it easier to request a Minnie Van ride, find the most convenient pickup location, and even select a wheelchair accessible vehicle.”
