MUST GET Lion King Snacks in Animal Kingdom: Simba’s Sunset Dole Whip And The King’s Cooler at Tamu Tamu
It’s been quite the season for variations on the classic pineapple Dole Whip! The most recent version — before today — came to us from Pineapple Lanai in Disney’s Polynesian Resort, which is now serving up a new raspberry and lime swirl Dole Whip.
But two new snacks at Animal Kingdom’s Tamu Tamu in honor of The Lion King deliver twists on the classic pineapple soft serve.
Simba’s Sunset Dole Whip features pineapple Dole Whip topped with a red syrup flavored with strawberry, watermelon and coconut.
The King’s Cooler is the same treat… WITH RUM. We went with the non-alcoholic Simba’s Sunset… and let’s just cut to the chase: we’ll be back for more, and SOON. Why?
Because, WOW! First, take in the sheer size. This large cup — typically reserved for floats — is PACKED with pineapple Dole Whip (for a lower price at $5.49 than what you’d typically pay for a float). And the additional tropical tastes are an awesome complement. While we didn’t pick up on a ton of watermelon and just a bit of strawberry, the coconut makes this whole thing taste like a pina colada, even without any alcohol in it!
And when you look at the $8.50 price tag including the addition of your choice of dark or coconut rum… well, this is a pretty good deal no matter which way you slice it.
You’ve got from now until the end of summer to try this specialty treat, and it’s highly recommended!
