What’s New in the Magic Kingdom: Everything we Found So Far in the New Year!
We’re back! After recovering from (over)eating for the holidays and welcoming in 2019 we headed to Magic Kingdom to see what’s new for the new year in the park.
And we were rewarded with some new treats (BIG and small), merchandise, and more. Read along to see everything we found!
What’s New on Magic Kingdom’s Main Street U.S.A.
Remember that pretty amazing Giant Mickey Krispy Treat that came out just for Mickey’s 90th Birthday weekend in November (here’s a pic to remind you of that beauty)? These aren’t new at the Confectionery, but there are a few with new toppings that have popped up.
You can choose from milk or white chocolate dipped treats that are then topped with sprinkles, M&Ms, or peanut butter chips. These giant treats were available previously, but many of the toppings are new. Read all about these and see more pictures here.
The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor has a challenge for you in the new year! You and your friends and family can see if you can meet Ralph’s Family Challenge by eating the entire kitchen-sink style ice cream sundae. This wonder is made up of five scoops of ice cream (in your choice of flavors) topped with whipped cream, fruity cereal, chocolate chunks, hot fudge, and cherries! Read all about this sundae here!
Casey’s Corner is still featuring a Hot Diggity Dog of the Month in this new year. This month’s Hot Diggity Dog is a Barbecued Pork Slaw topped dog. We saw this before, and during the 12 Days of Christmas Dogs event at Casey’s in December. Don’t forget, if Hot Dogs aren’t your favorite, but the Hot Diggity Dog toppings sound good, you can also pick up the Hot Diggity Loaded Fries of the Month topped with same toppings as the dog.
What’s New in Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland
We spotted the Guest Experience Team at their home in Adventureland across from the Swiss Family Treehouse. Just as in Tomorrowland, this team also has a screen with the attraction wait times on it.
The team is here to help you with recommendations, FastPass+ reservations, working with the My Disney Experience App, and more. We asked if the Guest Experience Team was going to continue after the holiday crush is over this week, and the cast member told us that it’s still up in the air. He said that positive feedback from guests is helpful if we’d like the Team to stick around.
What’s New in Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square
The Riverboat, Liberty Belle, has returned and has been sailing on the Rivers of America since December 22. It is a nice sight to see again after the long refurbishment of the Rivers of America.
If you’re craving Turkey Legs the Turkey Leg cart is back in Liberty Square — for now. This cart usually only makes appearances during high-crowd days, so expect this to disappear soon as the crowds return to work and school in the coming weeks.
What’s New in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland
The Tomorrowland Speedway has closed temporarily as work progresses in the area on the new Tron attraction..
The concept art for Tron shows the Tron attraction, that opens in 2021, coming very close to the Tomorrowland Speedway track. The Tomorrowland Speedway will re-open this summer.
What’s New in Magic Kingdom’s Shops and Stores — New Merchandise!
We spotted the new Purple Potion (or Potion Purple, which is their “official” name) ears that came out the day after Christmas throughout the park.
Are you going to get in on this latest color-craze at Disney?
These fun UP ears were also in several shops in the park. We love the “balloons” in the bow on these ears!
Christmas and holiday merchandise is being cycled out of the stores as more 2019 merchandise shows up.
This new hat is cool with its throwback look and logo on the badge on the front, and 2019 on the side.
If you’re an “it’s a small world“, Disney Cat, or Disney Dog fan there are some new — and very popular — leggings for you. We’ve spotted these in Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom so far.
How great are these with elements of Mary Blair’s artwork all over them as well as the clock? We’re adding these to our wardrobe!
We’ve been told by cast members the Disney Cat and Dog leggings are selling out. On our last visit to the Animal Kingdom the Disney Dog ones were sold out and the Disney Cat ones were in low supply.
If you are wondering, these are in adult sizes, so you can add these to your must-have list!
One of our favorite shops for must-have purses and oh-so-pretty dresses, Uptown Jewelers on Main Street, U.S.A. did not disappoint on either front this week. We spotted a brand new Mary Poppins Returns collection by Dooney and Bourke, as well as a new dress in The Dress Shop.
Let’s take a closer look at the Dooney and Bourke Mary Poppins Returns collection. There’s a tote with a practically perfect Mary on it along with some of her penguin friends, and her trusty (and chatty) umbrella on Cherry Tree Lane.
We spotted this tote on ShopDisney as well as in the parks, so if you won’t be in the parks soon you can still add this bag to your collection! The detail and style of the artwork is so fun on these bags.
The satchel in this collection is just as cute and fun as the tote. The references to the original Mary Poppins movie with the kites, as well as the new Mary Poppins Returns movie is extra special on this satchel.
If you can’t resist penguins, you’ve got to see this wristlet/wallet in the collection!
This wallet with these very spiffy looking penguins on it is also available on ShopDisney!
We wish we had somewhere to go in this dress! The detail on the bodice, skirt, and cardigan are amazing. You’ve got an outline of Cinderella Castle which makes everything extra special, then the cardigan has the Disney D on it. On that skirt, the detail is amazing.
This dress is $198.00, more expensive than other Dress Shop dresses, but it includes the cardigan, and the built in petticoat.
