Construction Update and Photos in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom — Including Tron!
Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is busy as they work to build the new Tron attraction opening in 2021 for the park’s 50th anniversary (can’t wait!). This week a popular, and original ride was temporarily closed as they continue construction on the new Tron attraction.
That’s right, the Walt Disney Railroad isn’t running as Tron’s construction nears the railroad tracks, but it isn’t all bad news for fans of the train.
Even tough you can’t ride the train, you can still SEE the train. The train is sitting “in residence” in the Main Street U.S.A. Train Station for photo opps, and a chance to get up close to the train and engine.
As you approach the train station you’ll see this sign inviting you to take an up-close view of a steam train.
This is a great time to take a look at the engine and get awesome photos.
We’re thinking this is a great spot for our next family picture!
Even though you won’t hear the train whistle for a while, you do still get to enjoy the train. Plus, when you’re in the train station you get a great view of Main Street, U.S.A. and Cinderella Castle!
The pathway between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland that ran from Space Mountain along the back of the Tomorrowland Speedway to the Fantasyland Train Station and the Barnstormer is now closed as well due to Tron’s construction.
The Tomorrowland Speedway will close for some of 2019, but reopen as the same attraction.
We also spotted a crane in the area behind Beast’s Castle and Under the Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid.
With the closings, we are happy to report seeing the Riverboat in Liberty Square out taking test runs! We’ve been watching the refurbishment on the Rivers of America from its draining, to it sitting without the Riverboat, to the Riverboat’s return last week. Now it looks like we’ll be able to take a relaxing ride on the Riverboat soon!
We’ll keep you posted on when we see this re-open to guests!
Walt once said “Disneyland will never be complete.” With all of the additions to Disney World and Disneyland (Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Skyliner, Guardians of the Galaxy Ride, Ratatouille Ride, Star Wars Hotel…so many more!) we can see Walt’s quote was full of foreshadowing!
