Review: Holiday Desserts at French Market Restaurant in Disneyland!

It seems everywhere we turn in Disneyland there are new festive treats for us to try — and we are not complaining! You can check this post to see EVERYTHING we’ve tried so far!

Next up on our tour are the holiday sweets at French Market Restaurant, located in New Orleans Square in Disneyland Park.

French Market is close to Haunted Mansion, which is currently decked out as “Haunted Mansion Holiday” and completely overlaid with Nightmare Before Christmas decorations. Because of this, they tend to keep their holiday treats on theme, featuring Jack Skellington and other fan favorites.

First up, we tried the Dessert Trio, which featured a Jack Skellington cupcake, mini coffee eclair, and sugar pie.

Dessert Trio: From Left to Right – Mini Coffee Eclair, Jack Skellington Cupcake, and Sugar Pie

The sugar pie was awesome, but super sweet! Good thing it was mini, because it’s just the right size. If you’re not a fan of excessive sweetness though, this may not be your choice dessert. That said, we loved it!

The cupcake was meh. It definitely gets points in the cute department for the white chocolate Jack, but overall it was lack luster and just an average cupcake.

And sadly, the eclair was horrible! The filling was just…wet. Weird, but that’s the sensation it had. Overall, a huge letdown.

Underwhelmed by the trio, we were ready to try the Wreath Bundt Cake.

Wreath Bundt Cake

And thank goodness, this cake was fabulous! As the menu states, it’s a cinnamon and candied pecan bundt with a center of crème brûlée. It’s topped with green icing, red chocolate pearls, red whipped mousse and a chocolate piece that features the fanged door wreath from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

As you can see from the photo, there is plenty of that delicious crème brûlée center to pair with the cake. It’s the perfect balance of sugar and spice. I definitely recommend this one!

Overall, I would order the bundt cake again, but not the dessert trio. Even though I enjoyed the sugar pie, the cupcake was mediocre, and the eclair was terrible. Not worth the money in my opinion. However, for a delicious snack, the bundt cake is well worth the price and a perfect holiday treat.
