TRON Attraction Update (and How Construction Will Affect Other Magic Kingdom Attractions)

Disney revealed its plans for the upcoming Tron coaster-style attraction coming to Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland last July. And as work progresses on the new attraction which will be set next to Space Mountain, there will be some changes around Magic Kingdom to accommodate construction.

The Walt Disney World Railroad will pause its Grand Circle Tours around the park starting December 2018. During the closure, Magic Kingdom guests will be able to take a closer look at the railroad (temporarily taking up residence at the Main Street Station) and “take advantage of one-of-a-kind photo opportunities.”

Additionally, The Tomorrowland Speedway will close for a portion of 2019 to adjust the speedway’s track. It will reopen as the same attraction next summer.

By the way, as a reminder of what’s to come, guests will now be able to spot a Tron-themed billboard from Storybook Circus.

The TRON attraction will make its debut in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021.
