EVERYTHING ON THE MENU Review: Woody’s Lunch Box Breakfast at Disney World’s Toy Story Land
Welcome back to Andy’s backyard, where we’re starting the day at Woody’s Lunch Box!
It’s been crazy amounts of fun exploring Toy Story Land since it opened in Disney’s Hollywood Studios on June 30th. We got to ride the new attractions, say “Hi,” to Buzz and Woody, and take in the new lunch and dinner menu at the land’s Counter Service spot which we’re visiting again today.
We shared some great reader pictures of breakfast at Woody’s Lunch Box last week, and now we’re back to give you our full review of everything on the menu for breakfast.
After all, I’m sure Andy’s mom would agree that breakfast is the most important meal of the day , so let’s see what’s in store for the morning at Woody’s Lunch Box!
Atmosphere
We took a full tour of the scene at Woody’s Lunch Box on our first visit, so if you want to see every aspect of this new Counter Service spot, be sure to check it out here!
But since it is so much fun to explore Andy’s backyard and it’s all still so new, we’ll take a quick look around! The scene is primarily set with a simple (though whimsically decorated) walk-up window.
It’s worth noting that — at least at this point — the spot is typically seen with pretty long lines in front of it. This is to be expected not only because Woody’s Lunch Box is a brand new eatery, but also because it has filled a void in regards to Hollywood Studios counter service options.
That’s why it’s good to know that Mobile Order — a process available on the My Disney Experience app that allows guests to pre-order and pre-pay for their meal — is available here!
Check out our step-by-step instructions to find out how it works.
No matter whether you tackle the lines or pick up your pre-ordered food, you’ll take it to one of the colorful umbrella-topped tables in the area.
Look for fun touches like a note from Andy’s mom making up one of the tables!
And, remember, when you enter Toy Story Land, you yourself shrink down to the size of a toy! So everything surrounding you in the Lunch Box and the rest of the Land is sized accordingly, like the Mini Babybel Snack Cheese wheels making up this spot :).
So, what’s a toy got to eat for breakfast around here? Let’s see!
Woody’s Lunchbox Breakfast Eats
The Breakfast Menu at Woody’s Lunch Box is similar to the Lunch and Dinner Menu in that it features nostalgic comfort foods served up with a twist!
The Lunch Box Tarts are actually served all day, but — as a play on the popular breakfast toaster tart — they’re especially fitting for breakfast. Choices are Raspberry and Chocolate-Hazelnut.
Now, we did already have these for dinner, but since they’re pretty darn tasty we couldn’t help but grab them again. The Raspberry Tart is topped with strawberry fondant and crispy pearls, and you’ll find the raspberry inside in the form of marmelade.
The Chocolate-Hazelnut Tart is filled with nutella, essentially. Maple fondant covers the top, garnished with pearls and candied bacon for just a slight hint of saltiness.
In both cases, the pastries are nicely golden brown. Also in both cases, we would have enjoyed a bit more filling, since it’s really yummy.
In any case, at $3.29, these are a great breakfast OR snack, and are highly recommended!
The S’more French Toast Sandwich is a definite headliner, and one of our new favorites! Filled with marshmallow and chocolate gananche, the final classic S’more touch are the graham cracker crumbs on the outside of the brioche bread. Like both a S’more AND French Toast, it’s served warm.
It’s super sweet, messy, and ooey-gooey.
Fortunately, all of that works in the sandwich’s favor to make it a memorable breakfast treat!
Your other sandwich option is the Smoked Turkey Breakfast Sandwich.
The sliced turkey is surrounded by melted Swiss, and you’ll also find green pepper and onions underneath the scrambled eggs topping the sandwich.
I have to say, this one was a pleasant surprise! The sourdough bread lends some good crunch and the flavors come together well overall. It was one of our favorites of the morning.
Note that the Kids’ Entrees are simply halved versions of these sandwiches served with potato barrels (tater tots) and a mandarin orange.
The Breakfast Bowl is a large bowl of potato barrels (tater tots) covered with smoked brisket gravy and scrambled eggs, then topped with green onions.
The Bowl was another surprise — but for a different reason.
Though I was especially excited to try this option, it struck me as rather bland, all truths told. The gravy was lacking that peppery zip I was looking forward to.
And maybe it’s because the tots here are baked instead of fried, but they just weren’t as tasty as usual.
The Banana Split Yogurt Parfait is the final entree. Pineapple, strawberries, and banana are tucked between layers of vanilla yogurt and honey.
It comes with with granola and dark chocolate chips for topping.
While it’s a simple dish, it’s also a nice, lighter option to have available for those who aren’t as drawn to the more over-the-top items first thing in the morning.
Gluten-Free Options:
Note that most items at Woody’s can be made with gluten-free bread, and the tater tots bowl can be made gluten-free by taking off the gravy. The parfait can be made gluten free by eliminating the granola; they will give you a cup of chocolate chips by themselves instead.
And now that we’re all fueled up, it’s time to take on the brand new RIDES!!!
But before we head off to Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers, we should talk about whether you want to…
Nosh or Not?
You may want to visit Woody’s Lunch Box for breakfast if:
- You’re heading to Toy Story Land first thing and need some sustenance to tackle the lines first! (Remember you can use Mobile Order to save time.)
- You want something out-of-the-ordinary for breakfast, because these items certainly fit the bill for that!
- You really want to try the S’more French Toast Sandwich. (And trust me — you really want to try the S’more French Toast Sandwich!)
You may want to skip Woody’s Lunch Box for breakfast if:
– Your primary objective in Toy Story Land is to get on the new rides first so you may not end up at Woody’s Lunch Box until lunchtime.
– You’re more excited by the lunch and dinner items than the breakfast items. (Get the Grilled Three-Cheese Sandwich!)
Overall
Breakfast at Woody’s Lunch Box — like lunch and dinner — provides much-needed new breakfast fare in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The fact that much of it is unique and tasty makes it a worthwhile spot to visit. In fact, this is true of lunch and dinner here, too. It’s so nice to have another Counter Service spot to recommend in Hollywood Studios, and Woody’s Lunch Box has earned a definite Thumbs-Up from your fellow toys here in Toys Story Land!
