What’s New at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Coronado Springs Resort: May 26, 2018
We’re baaaaaack with more What’s New! This time we’re at Disney’s Hollywood Studios where the Incredibles are popping up everywhere and at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort where tower construction is well on its way! So c’mon!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Updates
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Menus and Eats
It’s hot in central Florida, and it isn’t cooling off any time soon. So you’ll want to keep your cool by sipping on a Strawberry Lemonade with an optional shot of Bacardi Dragon Berry Rum. We found this at the popcorn cart to the left of the Chinese Theater.
At Backlot Express, pick up one or two Star Wars Cupcakes! These BB-9E and Kylo Ren Cupcakes were added last month — and we’ll have a review of both in the very near future!
At Dockside Diner, get on board the S’mores trend (remember that upscale S’mores at The Ganachery?!) with a S’mores Brownie. Review of this baby comin’ up soon, too!
Also at Dockside Diner: Macaroni & Cheese! At $6.49, this is almost $4 pricier than at locations selling M&C as a side, so this portion size is larger (and not a DDP snack credit).
This Olaf Cupcake isn’t new (it’s been around since Flurry of Fun last holiday season!), but he’s always worth another look. The color of that frosting is just too perfect. You can get your cupcake hug at ABC Commissary.
Oasis Canteen is the place to go for funnel cakes — and they’ve made a few changes to the menu. For starters, the Cinnamon Sugar funnel cake is completely gone from the menu.
The Strawberry Topping funnel cake used to come with chocolate drizzle automatically. Now you’ve got to request it, but we’re happy it’s still available.
And they’ve added a Cookies & Cream funnel cake to the menu. Who doesn’t love a funnel cake with Oreo Mickey ears?
We’ve got a review of this gorgeous fried batter beast coming soon, too! (We’ve previously spotted a Cookies & Cream Funnel Cake at the American Adventure pavilion in World Showcase at Epcot — but this one’s served up with soft serve!)
At Rosie’s All-American Cafe, guests can order Onion Straws with Petal Sauce. These aren’t a new item, but because they aren’t on the posted menu, most guests haven’t known about them. However, they’ve been available for Mobile Ordering, and you can request them at the counter as well.
They’re standard onion petals, but that just means they’re straight up delicious. And we are glad for another savory snack option in the parks (especially one that comes with a sauce because sauce!).
At Pizzerizzo, the Frozen Peach Bellini is a slightly different iteration of the original, which was on ice, not slushy-like.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Merchandise
Incredibles 2 opens on June 15, and as you can imagine, there’s plenty of merchandise to tie into the movie.
You can dress your entire family in the signature red if you so desire!
And for babies: onesies. (Also: darn right, Incredibles baby, and don’t you forget it!)
Adult tees are available, too.
And, of course, we love anytime Edna shows up to the party.
And what’s an animated Disney movie without figures to buy?
Ba ha ha ha ha!!!
Waking up to these mugs in the morning might be as invigorating as the coffee you pour inside! (Okay, probably not. Brew on, food friends!)
And finally, a couple other toy options. Edna’s expression is just right and I pretty much must have this.
Disney Eats merchandise is still appearing in shops around Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Add some character to any lunchbox with these Sandwich Stamps.
And whip up a little something something with this pair of whisks — one for grown ups and one for littles.
Of course, after all that family baking you’ll need a drink. There’s a Star Wars Glass for that.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Construction and Sights
Toy Story Land opens in just. over. a. month. And we are totally freaking out! Say “hey, howdy, hey” to Woody as he oversees the final stages of construction!
Meanwhile at the front of the park, several more bag checks have been added, presumably to handle the larger-than-normal crowds when the new land opens…or the crowds for Galactic Nights tomorrow??
Perhaps a few of these guys (and gal) can help speed up the security process? Okay, maybe not a great idea. But we still like to watch them march…
Signs are up promoting Star Wars Galactic Nights. Tickets are available!
Annual Passholders can now pick up the most recent Passholder Magnet featuring… Donald Duck! We got ours at 5&10 on Hollywood Boulevard.
And in case you haven’t seen these Incredibles faces enough: banners are up promoting the new movie!
Disney’s Coronado Springs Updates
The big news at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is the construction of a massive tower that will increase hotel occupancy by 500 new rooms. And construction is everywhere in the vicinity!
So much happening!
And because we always want to know what’s new in the world of food: Blonde and Strawberry Brownies at Coronado Springs. Review of these (and a chocolate version!) coming soon! (Or you can check out our original review from 2012…they haven’t changed much ;-D)
And Pepper Market is serving Wine Slushies now. We’ve seen these in the parks and resorts for a while, so it’s nice to be able to get one at this CSR. (The best versions are still at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs, though!)
